  1. Fire Department Posters Our fire department poster designs make perfect gifts for active firefighters, family and friends as well as fire buffs. Buffs, Fire-fans, sparkies, engine chasers are the people who attend fires and emergencies with determination and often document through pictures and videos. Those photo and videos are sure to be a great design inspiration for our firefighter gifts posters. Their origins of the fire buffs date back to world War ll, when departments suffered shortages due to the draft. These men would augment the the fire alarm telegraph bureau in New York City and overseas many of the army, navy and marine fire departments were ran by buffs. The name “buff” originated in the hose-and-wagon time period when the men would stand on icy icy street-corners for hours, and huddled together tightly under buffalo robes. The Firemen named them “the buffaloes,” which soon became “buff” for short. In other parts of the coutry, they are known as “fire-fans” and in a few areas they are known as “sparkies” but whatever they’re called they’re easily recognized. They are the people who find the major blazes and make sure to get details, photos of the entire event. Some of the various buff organizations are: The Fire Bell Club (where it’s harder to become a member than in millionaire lodges), The Third Alarmers, and The “77” Club. To name a few, Philadelphia has the 1776 Club and The Second Alarmers, it’s the Box 12 Association in Detroit and Toronto, the Box 52 Association in Boston, the Friendship Fire Association in Washington (D.C.) and the Phoenix Society in San Francisco. One of the top favorites of buffs is in the Box Thirteeners in Cincinnati who now actively assist their city’s firemen. As one can deduct, fighting fires, and witnessing the heroism of the brave men and women, can be appreciated by just about anyone. Our fire department posters are unique, inspirational and look fabulous in all types of décor settings. The firefighter gift posters are perfect for active firefighters, retired firefighters, families of firefighters, anyone who has an interest in the fire service, as well anyone who just appreciates a really cool poster design! Reach out to us with your awesome photos and videos, and we’ll turn it into one amazing firefighter gift poster for you or anyone who wants a unique piece of art to hang up in their home or office.
