  10. TODAY WE ARE GOING TO TAKE A LOOK AT NOUNS

  11. After this lesson, students should be able to: •define a noun. •identify nouns around you. •share ideas about nouns(person, place, animal, thing and ideas in the environment.

  14. •The NOUN is a word that names something. •They are names for persons, animals, places, objects, substances, qualities, actions, measures of time or quantity which can be pointed out, recognized and called a name. • It is the word that tells, what you are talking about.

  26. COMMON AND PROPER NOUNS

  27. • A is the general name given to all persons, places, animals, or things that belong to the same group or class. • It is the ordinary name you call someone or something (a person, place, animal, or thing) that belong in the same group. • I guess that is why they call it COMMON NOUNS. ☺

  28. COMMON NOUNS: - The general or ordinary name you would call something or someone. 1. Tom and I are going to town this afternoon. We plan to buy clothing, groceries and some shoes. 2. The clumsy boy spilled juice on his books. We DO NOT capitalize Common Nouns, unless they are used to begin sentences. 3. Rayanne’s birthday will be celebrated on the fifth of August. 4. The student wrote his examination on Monday.

Mum took us to the Emperor Valley Zoo last Saturday. We were transported there in her new Audi S4. 2. Port of Spain is a major town in Trinidad. Friday and Saturday are two of the busiest days in the town. 3. Mark is my best friend. He has a sister named Jane, who is very rude.
