  3. NPHS Cheer Overview • What do NP cheerleaders do? • SPIRIT SQUAD!!!! • Main goal is to support school spirit • Not just football • Represent Newbury Park High School around school AND outside of school • HIGH STANDARDS

  4. Attendance • Attendance at all events (unless otherwise stated) is REQUIRED. • Work is NOTan excuse. • School work is NOT an excuse. • Grades will reflect attendance • – 2% for every absence • – 1% if late or leave early • “Make-up” points can occasionally be earned by attending extra events.

  6. Grades • All cheerleaders must maintain at least a 2.0 throughout the year. • A = 4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D=1.0, F=0 • Any cheerleader who does not have at least a 2.0 at any grading period (there are 8 throughout the year) CANNOT PARTICIPATE UNTIL THE NEXT GRADING PERIOD!!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS

Schedule • Schedules for each season will be posted on www.nphscheer.com before the season begins. • See the calendar/weekly schedule for any additions/changes as these will be constantly updated. • YOU are responsible for keeping track of the schedule and keeping all the dates in your calendar! • IF IT IS ON THE WEBSITE…YOU ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW IT!!!

Schedule • Sometimes announcements may be posted on the cheer Facebook group/Twitter page as well… “friend” NPHS Cheer and join the group! • Google Calendar! • Go to settings – Mail, Contacts, Calendars, “Add Account”, “Google” • Email: nphscheerleaders@gmail.com • Password: panthers! • If you already have a gmail account synced…. • Type this into your web browser: • www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect • Select the nphscheer calendar!

Schedule – SPRING • Ice Cream Social: Monday, May 12th • 3:30pm – 4:30pm • NPHS Cafeteria • Spring Practice: Wednesday May 14th – Wednesday, June 4th • Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30pm – 4:30pm • NPHS GAR/Field • Mandatory Uniform Fitting: Monday, May 19th • Location TBD • 2:15pm – Varsity, 2:40 – JV, 3:25 – Freshmen

  10. Schedule – Summer • Cheers will be posted on the website. You are expected to know all of these by the first day of practice in July • Mandatory Car Wash Fundraiser: Saturday, June 28th • Summer Practice #1: Tuesday, July 8th – Friday, August 1st • Tuesday – Friday, 8am – 10am • Summer Youth Camp: Tuesday, July 22nd – Friday, July 25th • USA Summer Camp: Saturday, August 2nd –Tuesday, August 5th • Summer Practice #2: Wednesday, August 6th – Friday, August 15th • Tuesday – Friday, 8am – 10am • Mandatory Car Wash Fundraiser: Saturday, August 16th

Schedule – During The Year • Practice on Monday - Thursday • 2:15 -3:30 during football season, may change during winter and spring • ATTENDENCE IS REQUIRED • Games • All football games (home and away) • Freshmen – Thursday @5pm • Varsity/JV – Friday @ 4pm and 7pm • Girls and Boys home basketball games (winter) • Boys Lacrosse, Volleyball, Baseball, and sometimes girls lacrosse in Spring

  12. Schedule – During The Year • Other • Ambassador duties (such as Freshman Orientation, Back to School Night, etc. ) • Spirit events, Rallies!

  13. Practice… • You MUST be dressed out for practice. This means: • Appropriate clothing • Hair UP • Correct shoes • If you are not dressed correctly, your grade will be reduced =(

  14. Expectations: Appearance • Hair should be pulled back for every cheer event. YOU SHOULD NOT LOOK LIKE YOU ROLLED OUT OF BED. • No jewelry of ANY type • Nails should be NUDE or CLEAR unless the squad decides to paint them all another color (such as black and yellow) • No Acrylics (this is a stunting safety issue ladies…) • No pink hair in uniform

  15. Expectations:Behavior • Foul language while in uniform will not be tolerated, ever. • Cheerleaders are expected to act responsibly anytime in cheer clothing (on/off campus) • “On time is late” Please always arrive early!! • Dress appropriately for practice (safe shoes are a MUST)

  16. Expectations: Behavior • ALWAYS ALWAYSALWAYS act kind toward other students AND other schools • This includes social networks (please think before you post items on facebook/twitter/ instagram)
