Exchange Timeline • January 7, 2014 - All applications due with nonrefundable cheque for $350. • End of February - partners are matched • March - Partnerships are confirmed • May 20, 2014 – 7:00 pm Info Meeting at Westgate • August 20, 2014 (aprox) - arrival date of German students • September 10-12th - Camp Cedarwood for all Exchanges • End of September Bomber Game • Mid October City Scavenger Hunt and dinner with Exchanges • Mid November - Farewell Party at the Park Theatre • November 7th- likely departure of German Students • January 6th, 2015 Meeting - must hand in Health forms and copy of Passports • March 25, 2015 Likely departure date for Canadian students • May, 2015 Canadian Students and German partners invited to Berlin for 5 days • June 12, 2015 Likely return date for Canadian students

  6. Financial Information • $350. Non-refundable cheque paid for Canadian exchange activities (Camp Cedarwood, Hoodie, Bomber Game, Scavenger Hunt/Dinner and Farewell Party • One cheque of $600 due at end of May meeting • Remainder of cost for airline ticket due at the end of September as tickets are purchased by end of September- around $1400 depending on airline ticket prices • Cheques cover the airline ticket and flight insurance • Aprox. 350 Euros for 4 days and nights in Berlin to be paid in January • Students should have money available for personal spending and any extra travel costs (for example visiting friends by train) • All cheques should be made out to MTG - Germany Exchange

  7. Matching • Fill out the application as honestly as possible and we will do our best to find your best match • Students will be placed with partners in Hamburg (indicate Hamburg beside urban on application form) • Or smaller cities (for example: Hannover, Braunschweig or Luneburg) in Lower Saxony • Or smaller towns in Lower Saxony (indicate rural on the application form)

Why Exchange? • Adventure - must be willing to take a risk • Allow a German student to slip into your life - home, school, family • Allow yourself to slip into a German family, home and school • Language Learning in an authentic environment that cannot be duplicated in a classroom • Make new friends • Learn independence • Experience another culture • Learn to know yourself better • Appreciate your own country, city, family and school
