  2. Welcome to Week #2 Marking Period 2 During this marking period, you should continue to do the following each day: • Summarize a current event • Work through BBC Ma France • Read some of La Joconde Once a week, you should: • Post to the Edmodo message board.

  3. This Week’s Test • This week’s test will be on Friday. • You should be familiar with: • 1. La Joconde Chapter 10 • 2. The colors and face vocabulary • 3. Louis II • 4. Vocabulary from le portrait physique section. You will not be tested on le portrait moral section this week, but you should start to become familiar with that vocabulary as well.

  4. Le Vol de La Joconde Ch. 10 • Monday: Visit http://quizlet.com/19091722/le-vol-de-la-jaconde-ch-10-flash-cards/Write down the words and listen to the pronunciation before you start reading the chapter. • Tues: Practice the vocabulary by visiting: http://quizlet.com/19091722/learn. • Weds: Practice the words at this site:http://quizlet.com/19091722/speller • Thurs: Play the vocab games on the Quizlet website. • Read a little of Chapter 10 each day. Finish reading it on Thursday.

  5. Monday Vocabulary • Visit: http://www.laits.utexas.edu/fi/html/voc/04.html#030 • Listen to the vocabulary in the sections Le portrait physique. • Visit http://www.laits.utexas.edu/tex/gr/det3.html. Read the grammar notes. • Complete the practice activity and check your answers.

  9. Tuesday Vocabulary • Visit http://www.laits.utexas.edu/fi/html/voc/04.html#032 • Listen to the vocabulary words in le portrait moral. This is a mix of new adjectives and adjectives you have learned previously.

  10. Tuesday Activity • To answer the question, Quelle est votre taille? Or How tall are you? in French, you must know your height in meters. • To figure out how tall you are, go to this website: • Click on this link • Je fais …. m. = I am … meters tall.

  11. Tues: Vocabulary Practice Write in English. • 1. Juliette has a round face and very pink cheeks. • 2. He has a stub nose and a square face. • 3. They (m) have red hair, brown eyes and big ears. • 4. We have blond hair and blue eyes. • 5. She has a tattoo of a red bird on her neck.

  18. Early French History Continued • The next important historical figure you will learn about is Louis II (Louis the Stammerer). Answer the following questions about him. • How was Louis II related to Charles the Bald? • How long was Louis II king? • Was he considered a strong king? Why or why not? • What happened after his death?

  20. BBC: Ma France • This series will help your pronunciation greatly. • Visit this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/french/mafrance/flash/# • You will need headphones. They are in the closet in the front of the room. • Work through the videos. You should spend at least 15 minutes on this site a day. • Log what you completed.

  21. Friday • Take the quiz on the Independent Study page on Edmodo. • Don’t forget to make your post for the week to the message board on Edmodo.
