  1. Wind Generation Regulation Requirement • Using Statistical Method of Average Deviation • Since the Regulation Varies Positively & Negatively, We Used Absolute Value of Average Deviation • The Formula for This Function is: • 1/n Σ | A –Ā | , Where Ā is the mean in the data set and n is the number of data in a set.

  2. Wind Generation Regulation Requirement Wind Generation at MB (Capacity 5.4 MW) Extracted 44, 640 Points of Data (minutes) For Dec. 2002, we had: Absolute Value of Aveg Deviation 1.81 MW For July 2002, we had: Absolute Value of Aveg Deviation 1.75 MW The Regulation Requirement of 31% for these two months. Including Jan and Feb. Data, and other Wind Farms, we arrived at 27% Requirements.

  3. WACM Control Area Statistics, Large Geographical Coverage Generation of 5200 MW Avg Load of 2400 MW ( Peak Load of 3100 MW) The Hydro Generators is about 800MW, most of it run of the river or small reservoirs Limited Generation Resource for Regulation and Load Following as well as Operating Reserves Currently, the control area is committed to about 36 MW of Wind Generation, with Maximum of 100 MW with Current Resources
