Changes to cables concealed in a wall or a partition 522.6.100 • Cables to be 50mm deep OR • Incorporate an earthed metal covering i.e. MI OR • Enclosed in earthed metal conduit OR • Enclosed in earthed trunking or ducting OR • Mechanically protected (capping not sufficient, must withstand penetration by nail, screws etc) • ALL to be in safe zones • Form part of a SELV or PELV circuit (NEW) Not allowed unless 50mm deep or i,ii,iii,iv are achieved Additional protection by RCD shall be provided if i, ii, iii or iv above not complied with. RCD to comply with regulation 415.1.1

New section 710 Medical Locations • Applies to:- hospitals, dentists, private clinics, healthcare centres etc • Areas grouped (0,1,2) with different requirements for each • Requirement to assess what procedures take place to be able to determine groups • Installation of insulation monitoring devices • Installation of protective conductors of maximum resistance values • Need to ensure unwanted tripping of RCD’s • Lower disconnection times • Emergency safety sources required

  16. Changes to Appendices Appendix 11 - Effects of Harmonic Currents on Balanced 3 Phase Systems Deleted by BS 7671:2008 (2011) moved to App.4 para. 5.5 & 5.6 Appendix 12 -Voltage Drop in Consumers Installations Deleted by BS 7671:2008 (2011) moved to App.4 para. 6.4
