  1. WAOL Council Meeting Monday, November 3, 2008

  2. Agenda • Elluminate Check In • ANGEL Timeline • ELC and Instructor Accounts in ANGEL • Winter 09 Pilot • Training Update

  3. Elluminate • All colleges but one have active admin accounts • WAOL is working on policies and practices to manage the storage of recorded sessions currently hosted by Elluminate • Councils and commissions are planning to do meetings on Elluminate or have asked for demonstrations at their meetings • Local ELCs are on the front lines! • WACTC, IC, CBS, WEC, whole ELC meeting

  4. WAOL Blackboard to ANGEL • Phase One: July 08 through March 09 • Everything currently supported by WAOL moved from Blackboard to ANGEL • All current WAOL users got ANGEL account October • Not a current WAOL user? • Colleges can upload with flat file • Self-registration ready—gives instructor account and practice classroom • Training focus on experienced Blackboard users who are moving to ANGEL • Continue to use existing WAOL processes (WAOL ID numbers, Intent to Teach forms, etc.)

  5. WAOL Blackboard to ANGEL • Phase Two: March 09 through June 09 • Services new from WAOL • Implement individual college domains and admin access • Beginning to testing admin access and branding now • All training in ANGEL • Training for ePortfolio (which is available in every classroom now—just no training)

  6. ELC ANGEL Accounts • All ELCs have an instructor-level account with a practice classroom • Notification was sent to the email address in the college ELC MyWAOL account, so update your email address if you didn’t get a notification from WAOL ANGEL • ELC accounts will be changed to administrator-level accounts in Phase Two

  7. Instructor Accounts in ANGEL • All instructors who were active on WAOL Blackboard since Fall 07 have ANGEL instructor accounts with practice classrooms • All accounts will be created with the WAOL prefix waol_ first initial last name • These are practice classrooms that are not linked to any existing WAOL classrooms

  8. Instructor Accounts (cont) • College ELCs will receive a flat file that can be used to create instructor accounts in WAOL ANGEL. • The user IDs created by these files will have the college prefix (bates_first initial last name….yvc_first initial last name) • Be aware of the potential confusion when some instructors get multiple accounts. • Practice classrooms are not named for teaching—teaching classrooms will be designated by quarter/year.

  9. Instructor Accounts (cont) • Self-registration process ready • will give instructor-level account and practice • Requires a coupon code that will be managed by college ELCs.

  10. Course Migration • Instructors teaching on WAOL ANGEL for Winter 09 have received a named classroom for Winter • WHO will be teaching on ANGEL Winter 09? • All instructors with system-owned shared classrooms • Fall pilot instructors if they choose • New pilot instructors

  11. Winter 09 PilotDeadline October 24 • The course must have a WAOL ID number. • The instructor must complete an Intent to Teach form for Winter 09, and that form must be approved by the college. • The ELC must send an email to Monique mkovalenko@sbctc.edu that includes • Name of instructor • WAOL ID number • Instructor email address • (Not necessary for system-owned shared instructors—We’ll know who they are!)

  12. Why a deadline for Winter 09? • So colleges don’t start to enroll students without the WAOL ID number • So instructors have time to work on ANGEL classrooms • So WAOL staff can get Winter 09 set up and continue to move forward on other migration tasks

  13. Content Migration • Instructors can export Blackboard (or other CMS) content from existing classrooms and migrate into ANGEL classroom • OR they can build the new ANGEL classroom by bringing over content piece by piece • WAOL staff will help if faculty have trouble exporting content, but it’s easy.

  14. Training Update • The job search to rehire a faculty trainer will close November 21. • Materials and training opportunities: http://www.waol.org/faculty_and_staff/angelSupport.aspx • If you have other materials or opportunities to share, please let us know and we’ll post. • Additional materials • Training/orientation sessions in Elluminate • Regional face-to-face training

  15. Expert Support for Faculty • Hired Jesse Sims half-time through Lower Columbia College • Jesse will work individually with instructors and provide advanced ANGEL expertise. • He starts this week!

  16. Next meeting November 17 11:00 to noon On Elluminate Please forward recorded sessions and invitations to others on your campus who might be interested.
