  3. What do yaks look like? • It’s either brown or black • Long horns on its head • 6 feet tall • Weighs 1,100 to 1,200 pounds

  4. Behavior • Yaks are pack animals • Survives temperatures as low as 40 degrees • Mates in September • Adapted to live in high altitudes • Travels in a single file line, and steps in each other's footprints

  5. Interesting Facts • Can carry heavy loads 20 miles • Soft fur made by yaks could be used clothes or mats, or other hair for tents and coverings • Their fur protects them from rain • Lives in either the wild or in a zoo
