  2. • Its main function is to manage blood sugar level. • As more and more food we eat, blood sugar increases. • And this causes increased insulin secretion in our body to bring the blood sugar level down to normal (100mg/dl), usually within two hours. • We need energy for our muscles to do any physical or energetic work, our muscles cannot use glucose without the help of insulin. What is insulin? • Insulin is an essential hormone which is made by Pancreas . It is directly associated with, or related to, the amount of food we eat. www.add15years.com www.add15years.in

  3. 2. Here insulin plays a very crucial role. Rise in glucose triggers your pancreas to release insulin into the bloodstream. 3. Insulin travels through the blood to your body's cells. It tells the cells to open up and let the glucose in. 4. Once inside, the cells convert glucose into energy or and stores it as glycogen to use later. How Insulin works in our body? 1. Energy is created from food; body uses the energy as much as it requires. But what does body do with the extra energy? www.add15years.com www.add15years.in

  4. 2. To counter body’s resistance, the pancreas will create more insulin. 3. And with that over-working, eventually the cells ‘give-up’. 4. That’s called pre-diabetes. At that point the body slows insulin production, leaving too much glucose in the blood. 5. As insulin production continues to decrease and resistance increases, eventually Type 2 diabetes occurs . Insulin resistance, Type-2 diabetes 1. It’s a condition when the body is unable to move glucose into the cells for fuel. In this situation body resist to accept the Insulin hormone. www.add15years.com www.add15years.in

  5. How to have healthy insulin levels? 1. Educate yourself about nutrition: Know your meal. Add greens and reduce sugar from. Take nutrition seriously, join related groups both online and offline. Visit and have talks with dieticians. What we eat is what we become. 2. Maintain a healthy weight: Being obese makes it more difficult for your body to use insulin and control blood sugar levels. 3. Exercise: Being physically active always helps. 4. Regular blood test: It is highly recommended to get HbA1c testing done in a regular interval. This will help you to keep a track on your blood sugar levels. www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
