  1. Year 8 – Web Design IN HTML Lesson 1

  2. Working on your own… Starter Use the internet to find out what HTML is? Use ‘Microsoft Word’ to write down your list

  3. What is HTML? • HyperTextMarkup Language (HTML) is the main markup language for creating web pages and other information that can be displayed in a web browser. • HTML is written in the form of HTML elements consisting of tags enclosed in angle brackets (like <html>), within the web page content. HTML tags most commonly come in pairs like <h1> and </h1>, although some tags represent empty elements and so are unpaired, for example <img>.

  4. Lesson Objectives • (WALT) We are learning to: • To use notepad to create a basic webpage from text. • To use the Lesson 1 – 2 Worksheet to learn how to use HTML to make a webpage. • (WILF) What I’m looking for • Over the next two lessons to complete the Lesson 1 – 2 tutorial and be able to independently create your own webpages.

  5. Main Activity • Go to the VLE and Open the File named “Lesson 1 and 2 Step By Step HTML”

  6. Plenary • Now its time to look at a friends work. • With the person next to you, identify 2 stars (Strengths) and a wish (Improvement) to carry out. • The Star could be based on something you know, but your partner doesn’t. (Can you teach them something new?)
