Welcome Back. Today we begin Frankenstein properly. The date of the assessment is: Mon 6 th JAN (plus Thur , Fri and more) The length is 1200 words (guide). This gives us seven weeks of lessons to do Frankenstein and Hamlet.

  1. Welcome Back Today we begin Frankenstein properly. The date of the assessment is: Mon 6th JAN (plus Thur, Fri and more) The length is 1200 words (guide). This gives us seven weeks of lessons to do Frankenstein and Hamlet. Turn this and the next slide into your folder, adding your full name and tutor group

  2. Here is the title: Explore the ways disturbed characters are presented in the texts you have studied. Add this to your folder

  3. Here’s what you’re assessed on Develop interpretations of the writer’s ideas. (so this means we have to learn what the writer’s ideas are) Evaluate the writer’s use of language and structure and their effects. (so this means we need to read suitable parts and learn the techniques and effects used) Select material (quotations and suitable parts of the novel), including comparing. (so this means you’ll need to know what parts you’ll use. You can have the text but you can’t write on it)

  4. Here’s what you’re assessed on THIS WEEK… Develop interpretations of the writer’s ideas. (so this means we have to learn what the writer’s ideas are)

  5. You have some information that everyone on your table needs to know: Stage One: Read your information several times. Try to remember as many of the important bits as possible. You have five minutes to do this. Stage Two: Each person explains their information to the others WITHOUT USING THE ORIGINAL. The others listen but cannot write. The person explaining can have a quick look at the original when needed eg to remember a name or a date. Stage Three: Everyone writes what they can remember being told. YOU CANNOT WRITE IN YOUR OWN SEGMENT! The people writing can ask the original speaker questions. The people writing can talk to each other as they try to remember. Stage Four: The original expert adds missing information to their own segment. Stage Five: Tables with missing segments are briefed by other tables. Stage Six: Fill in your A3 yellow sheets, using the information in front of you.

  6. Inside the mind of Mary Shelley Write four things that you think Shelley is trying to achieve or raise as an issue in Frankenstein. Think about how Shelley wants to affect the reader’s opinion about the things that were happening at the time.
