Schedule for the 3 days • Printed schedules are in your folder • Time to work in your room and create/refine quarter 1 assessments • Breakfast sponsored by PTSA Wednesday morning • Staff Meeting to review district policies and procedures, HMS staff handbook • SLO Training: Check the chart in your folder • Meeting for anyone interested in supervising detention, HAP or morning hall duty(flex time)

Bell Schedules • No homeroom period • Announcements and Pledge will be at the end of period 1 • Materials will be distributed during period 1 A-day classes • End of the day announcements will be emergencies only • Open House schedules are in your folder, more information to follow from John • Modified bell schedules were created for Tuesday and Wednesday. Extra time wasadded to period 1.

  7. Be an 11! • Elevens set goals: We will be talking about this with students at opening assemblies – What is your goal for the year? • Jen: Implement structured staff development at monthly department meetings. • Departments will meet one Thursday per month with the designated administrator. These meetings are on the calendar (September & October are in your folder). Please reserve this time in your schedule.

  8. Be an 11! • The code of conduct will be reviewed with all students at the assemblies. • When Elevens Make Mistakes: • Elevens admit and confront their mistakes. • Elevens take responsibility for their mistakes. • Elevens are truly sorry for their mistakes. • Elevens make every effort to correct their mistakes and make restitution if necessary. • Elevens resolve to do better and learn from their mistakes. • Elevens do not dwell on their mistakes. They make the necessary corrections and move on in a positive direction. • Elevens and Eleven Teams always help each other avoid mistakes. • Elevens and Eleven teams stand by their teammates when they make mistakes and help pull them up. • Eleven Teams stand together.

  10. Core Team • First meeting on Thursday at 2:00 • Need 2 more Representatives: Music/FACS/Art and Technology/Physical Education. Please contact Karen Boettcher if interested.

  11. PTSA • There is a letter from PTSA in your folder. • Please consider joining PTSA again this year. We had tremendous support for PTSA last year. • Picture days are Monday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 11. • Spirit Wear Sale ends September 21. • First Meeting: Monday, September 24 at 7:00 in the HMS Cafeteria

DASA • Jill Crossetta and Jen Giallella are the HMS DASA coordinators • Staff and student surveys will be completed • HMS has a tracking system in place and this system will be implemented district-wide • Anything violent = direct referral to administration • 2nd offense = administration is involved

  13. Office Information • Pick up plan books and grade books from the main office. • All employees need to sign in when picking up keys and sub folders or at the main office today,Wednesdayand Thursday. • Please complete the District Employee Directory and Address Card and return to the main office ASAP. • Substitute folders will be picked up immediately following this meeting and are due to the main office by the end of the day on Thursday. • Please be extra conscientious about turning in required paperwork this year. Read your IEPs and sign-off ASAP. • John is still working on duties. Bus duty, study hall, etc. will be assigned this week. Notification will be sent via e-mail. • Thank you for your patience as we balance schedules. The counselors will be very busy with this task over the next three days.

  14. Calendar • Grade reporting dates are listed for the year. Put these on your calendar and note the due dates. • AIMSWEB: A district calendar was created for 2012-13. AIMSWEB will be discussed at ELA and Math department meetings. • BOE meetings will be at HMS September11 and October 9

  15. Evaluations • Teacher Aide Evaluations will begin in September • APPR plan will be voted on by HTA • All teachers and teacher aides have been assigned an evaluator for 2012-2013 • SLO training for teachers on Wednesday at 10:30 • SLO training will continue at department meetings

  16. Thank You to our Custodial Staff • Once again, they are doing more with less staff. • They will need your help to keep our building looking clean. • Night events: see Rodney ahead of time about specifics • Chairs up at the end of the day • Windows shut with blinds closed • Remember our energy savings: computers and monitors off, projectors off when not used for consecutive classes
