  2. Definition of Propaganda prop·a·gan·daNoun/ˌpräpəˈgandə/ 1. Information, esp. of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. 2. The dissemination of such information as a political strategy. 
  3. -Types of Propaganda- Bandwagon Everyone is doing it. You should do it too. Example: Everyone in South Plainfield loves Candidate X. Be a winner, join us.
  4. -Types of Propaganda- Testimonial A celebrity, sports star, or other famous person tells you they support an idea or use a product. Example: Roger Federer uses Gillette shaving blades.
  5. -Types of Propaganda-Glittering Generalities Convinces people that taking a certain action or believing in certain idea makes them more noble and associates them with a grand (glittering) idea. Example: The Few, The Proud, the Marines.
  6. -Types of Propaganda-Plain Folk This type of propaganda associates a political figure or product with the good ole’ common guy.
  7. -Types of Propaganda-Fear Identifies something that people are afraid of and then proscribes a solution. Only you can prevent forest fires!
  8. -Types of Propaganda-Name Calling Uses derogatory language and words that carry a negative connotation to incite some kind of action. Example: Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim.
