  2. What is podagogy? Podagogy is a combination of the terms pedagogy and podcasting. As in any teaching method, there are do’s and don’ts for creating and using podcasting in your teaching.

  3. Why should teachers podcast? • Most students have MP3 players or computers with access to the internet • Provides another form of teaching delivery • Allows students to access information anytime

  4. Do’s in Podcasting • Use appropriate content for your audience • Provide information in small chunks • Choose content that is audio friendly • Keep it interesting

  5. Don’ts in Podcasting? • Don’t record long involved lectures • Don’t provide too many facts and figures (they will not be remembered) • Don’t try to teach too much in one podcast • Don’t read from a script (use an informal tone)

  6. Possible uses for podcasting in the classroom • News broadcasts • Interviews • Music shows • Storytelling • Anticipatory set for a lesson • Review of class material • Foreign language learning • Presentation by students

  7. What do you need to podcast? • Computer • Microphone • Audio recording software • Website to submit podcasts • Podcast receiving software

  8. Steps to producing a podcast • Choose appropriate content • Plan the lesson or podcast • Create the audio file • Add the audio file to an RSS feed • Submit the podcast to a webserver
