Aboutus As an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH supports the German Government in implementing its development policy objectives. We promote complex reforms and change processes in developing and transition countries. Our corporate objective is to improve people’s living conditions on a sustainable basis. Lessons learnt and challenges for cleaner production and eco efficency: • Rising prices for oil, food and commodities favour the engagement in ressource- and eco efficiency • Cleaner production arises not automatically - Support from the state or the city is essential for its success • A multi-level approach and flexibility (mix of instruments) is needed • Economic incentives facilitate the striving for results • Relevant concepts are: public private partnerships, prevention, polluter pays principle, producer responsibility • Environmental and economic policies should be well-connected • Material and energy flows should be sustainable in the economic cycle • Start to walk the road to a low-carbon economy Partner and Facilitator for Eco-Industrial Park Development
