Nottinghamshire Training Network Aim of this project • To equip individuals with the skills to be employed in line with emerging skill shortages and emerging job opportunities in the same company or with a new employer Make it easier for people to access the support they need following or pending redundancy

  4. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Provision Offered • Seamless service • Pre-employment • In-employment training through Train to Gain and Apprenticeships

  5. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Skills Interventions • Initial Assessment and Individual Learning Plan • Skills for Life diagnostics • Delivery of training to improve job search, job applications and in-work skills • IAG and learner support

Nottinghamshire Training Network Skills Interventions contd. • Training to update skills needs for a specific employment sector • Accountancy • Plant Training • Care • Welding • Pre-employment skills training (change of occupation) • Regular progress reviews • Exit interviews • Customer Tracking

Nottinghamshire Training Network No restriction on the type of provision as long as it is:- • Organised and structured • Delivered to suit individuals’ existing skill levels • Fits local market intelligence – job opportunities • Suits individuals’ own career aspirations Activity must be focused on skills development and link to employment

Nottinghamshire Training Network Training Delivery • Does not have to be accredited • Or lead to the achievement of qualifications • Training should be specific to the requirements of the individual’s target employment • Link pre-employment training to progression to job with ER funded provision (project outcome)

  9. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Eligibility Individuals will need to be 18+ and Eligible for LSC and ESF funding

Nottinghamshire Training Network Key Target Groups – definitions Group 1: • Individuals aged 18+ • Possession of a personal redundancy letter (individual or name is part of a group) on employers’ letter head • Listed as ‘under notice’ or redundancy from a specific date – pending redundancy

  11. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Key Target Groups – definitions Group 2: • Individuals aged 18+ • Possession of a personal redundancy letter (individual or name is part of a group) on employers’ letter head • Redundant within the last 3 months

  12. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Key Target Groups – definitions Group 3: • Individual aged 18+ • Not in paid employment or self employment • Available and actively seeking work • Unemployed between 0-6 months

  13. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Eligible Individuals will be offered a range of education and training services to develop skills to help them: • Retain employment or • Find new employment

  14. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Individuals unemployed for 6 months +, refer on to 6 Months Offer run by 5 colleges: • North Notts College • West Notts College • New College Nottingham • Castle College • South Notts College

Nottinghamshire Training Network Geographical Area = Nottinghamshire Individuals outside of area under notice of redundancy: • Depends on where employer based or where individual lives • If employer is based in Nottinghamshire then employees outside the region will be eligible If there are employees involved who live outside of the area, check with NTN before signing up to ensure eligibility

  18. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Monitoring only outcomes • Progression into a successful job start • Progression into further learning • Progression into voluntary work • Accredited learning achievements • Project evaluation • Monthly monitoring reports

  19. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Where are we now? • 169 starts target of 200 for September • 35 completions

  20. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Learners who obtain a job with TTG or Apprenticeship Training have priority for Train to Gain funding

  21. “Our Future! It’s in our hands." Nottinghamshire Training Network Referrals • Through providers own employer contacts • Through JCP – referring clients with skills training needs to NTN; then refer on to a suitable provider • OTR • Other contract holders in Nottinghamshire
