  1. The Secret World of Sexual Fantasies By Brett Kahr Who’s Been Sleeping In Your Head?

  2. Secret Desires Fantasies What is a sexual fantasy? “I wish to define a sexual fantasy as, first and foremost, a conscious thought or set of thoughts that contain a depiction of a sexual act or acts, a sexual scene or scenes, sexual imagery, and often sexual language, which will in many instances produce pleasurable sensations ranging from mental enjoyment to physical stimulation in the genitalia.” –B. Kahr Aroused Erotic Normal

  3. Despite living in a sexualized world according to the book there are very few experts who are doing research into sexual fantasies. A beginning pioneer named Dr. Heinrich van Kaan published PsychopathiaSexualis where he described the dangers of masturbation in regards to the mind.

  4. Another man, Professor Richard von Krafft-Ebing published a book about fantasies and coined the term “psychical onanism” which means “mind masturbation” Both of these men used those considered mentally ill or neurotic to provide research on fantasies…..could this research provide information for “normal” people?

  5. Many years into a career as a psychotherapist Dr. Kahr saw a need for a “Kinsey of the mind” research project…..then he had to find the participants to interview. Those that did participate were asked a series of open ended questions providing the ability to be as detailed as they would like in the following areas: Current Life Family History Infancy and Childhood History Sexual Behavior History Sexual Fantasy History

  6. Central Masturbation Fantasy The book states that each of us harbors one or more detailed., sometimes disturbing fantasy that we would not reveal in a bar, around the coffee table or even to a psychologist. It’s known as a pivotal fantasy that we return again and again.

  7. Interesting Statistics from the book • 40% of Males and Females say they fantasize as a way to explore different sexual thoughts and activities • 58% fantasize about their current partner…which means 42% have NOT fantasized about their current partner • Only 25% fantasize about celebrities • 55% of all adults have committed extramarital infidelity • 90% of all adults will engage in one or more intra-marital affairs during a marriage or permanent partnership

  8. Conclusion 23,000 people anonymously responded to the questionnaire describing their private thoughts Many people feel that their fantasy is disturbing and that nobody else have fantasies like them. This book tries to show you that there are a lot of fantasies and that each one can be “normal” in a sense and doesn’t mean that we can’t lead sexual lives that you would consider to be normal The book was interesting to read, a wealth of information regarding fantasy and explaining the different types.
