  2. Project Abstract The aim of this project is to create a content and contact management system for the photography department at the Washington Square News (WSN), NYU’s daily student-run newspaper.

  3. Project Abstract 1. The Section Editor decides what pictures are needed for articles or headlines. • The Section Editor then sends a request to the Photo Editor. • The Photo Editor picks up the request (called an assignment) and assigns one or more photographers to take pictures that satisfy the assignment. • The photographers takes pictures that fulfill the requirements and sends them to the Photo Editor. • The Photo Editor decides on the best picture(s) to complete the assignment. The WSN has a systematic way of deciding what and which pictures are published through a team of editors.

Project Abstract The purpose of this project is to create a web-based application to organize and streamline the process of receiving and delegating photo assignments and retrieving assignments for publication. Currently, this is done through manual labor, with the exception of Section Editors’ requesting of photo assignments through Maestro. • Maestro -- A program that allows Section Editors to send E-Mail requests to Photo Editors. • Everything after this request is done manually. Pixel PAM will integrate the functionality of Maestro to provide a fully working system for Photo Editors and photographers.

  6. Handling Maestro A typical request from Maestro includes: - Section - Slug (a one-word keyword) - Summary - Contact Info - Run date

  7. The Customer: Accounts Pixel PAM will use a system of accounts to allow different types of users to access a database of pictures and contacts. .

  8. The Customer: Photo Editors Photo Editors are the primary customers of this program. At the WSN, there is a team of 3 Photo Editors that work together on assignments. . Photo Editors are never malicious towards each other. Photo Editors are responsible for different assignments, but this mainly depends on the run-date of the assignment. Photo Editors are also interchangeably responsible for each other’s assignments as well.

  10. The Customer: Photographers Photographers are the secondary users of this program. At the WSN, each photographer gets to take pictures depending on what the Photo Editor tells them. . Photographers know little or nothing about the work of other photographers. Photographers only need to send pictures to the Photo Editor. Photo Editors are also photographers.

  12. A note about the Super-User For maintenance purposes, a super-user account will be created. This account will basically have all the access privileges of the Photo Editor, plus the ability to add/delete Photo Editor and photographer accounts individually, as well as immediate manipulation of assignments. .
