  4. WHEN • 14 month programme • Centres closes October 2011 • Reopens December 2012

  5. WHY • Centres infrastructure needs renewing • Facility mix needs refreshing to meet customer trends • Investment now will achieve future savings • Energy saving technology • Cheaper operational costs • More intensive use of Centre • Opportunity to create local cultural hub

  6. DESIGN INFLUENCE • Leisure Professionals • Governing Sports Bodies • Trend Analysis • Local needs • Commercial benefit • Appeal to wider leisure market

  7. WHAT - RECEPTION • Café • Library & IT suite • Creche & Meeting Rooms

  8. WHAT- POOLS • 8 lane 25m Competition Pool to ASA standards • Large 20 x 10m Teaching Pool • Offering 120 sqm additional water space

  9. WHAT - DRY SIDE • 8 Badminton court size Sports Hall • 170 station Gym • Dance and Aerobics Studios (2) • Spinning Room

  10. HOW- PROTECTION OF ASSET & FUTURE SAVINGS • Westcroft - key Council asset • Funding from Capital receipts • Enhanced income generation to service loan (Prudential borrowing) • Revenue savings from recent contract retender • Funding from planning gains ring fenced for sport & recreation

WET – 80% PROGRAMMED Accommodated at Cheam Leisure Centre • Public Swimming • Mon - Wed : 7-9am; 12-1pm; & 6-7pm; • Thurs: 7-9am; 12-1pm; & 6-10pm • Fri: 7-9am; 12-1pm; & 6-6.30pm • Sat: 8-11am; 12-2pm; 3.30-7pm • Sun: 8am-6pm • Aqua Aerobics • Sessions available: Mon 11.30am; Tues 11.30am & 6.30pm; Wed 11.30am; Thurs 11.15am & 7pm; Fri 11am; Sun 5.30pm • Swimming Tuition • 85-90% of current programme accommodated at Cheam LC • Schools Swimming • Await feedback from schools, accommodation identified at Cheam; Purley & Banstead

CONSTRUCTION • Key phases • New electrical sub-station - July / August 2011 • Construction (54 weeks) - Oct 2011 to Nov 2012 • Construction site • Main constructor will be in charge of the building and site • Footpath / cycleways maintained • No public use of Centre or site • Hours of work • Supervision of site • Considerate Constructors scheme • Noisy and dusty work and traffic within normal working hours • Management of waste • Site information displays • Newsletters to residents
