  2. Intro Hello, Meghan here. Welcome to this presentation about Nigeria. Nigeria is in Western and Central Africa. We chose Nigeria because we know about this place more than most of the other countries in our region. Also I, personally thought it would be a lot of fun to research. Without further ado, let’s move on.

  3. Climate Nigeria has a humid tropical climate. This is because Nigeria is just above the equator. The climate varies. Nigeria is equatorial in the south, tropical in the center, and arid in the north.

  4. European Colonization The population of Nigeria in the early 2000 BC were all about farming their plants and crops. Eventually, a tribe called The Noks, settled there. The Noks made a lot of sculptures out of bronze, and that is what they became known for. Eventually, the Nigerians had to be able to live with the fact that many people were changing the way that they lived. After a while, Europeans started to come to Nigeria because they saw it as an “economic gold mine.” This is because of the unrefined metals, gems and oils that could be mined. In later years, Nigeria finally took it’s independence back.

  5. Unique Qualities There are many unique qualities about Nigeria, such as Chin chin. Chin chin is a sweet fried cookie made in several different shapes and sizes. Dodo is a side dish of ripe plantains fried in vegetable or palm oil. A lot of the information I found was food related, mmmmmmm...food.

  6. Physical Features and Natural Resources The surface is made up of crystalline rocks of the African Shield. The characteristic landscape of the area is extensive level plains interrupted by granite mountains. The natural resources are natural gas, petroleum, tin, iron ore, coal, limestone, niobium, lead, zinc, and arable land. The major cities are Lagos, Ibadan, Kano, Pot Harcourt, Benin City,Zaria, Maiduguri, Jos, Oyo, Aba, Abuja, Bida, Okpoko, Bauchi, Mubi, Ondo, and Shagamu.

  7. Environs Nigeria has one of the world’s worst environments. They have the highest deforestation rate, as well as very much pollution. This causes poverty. In 1995, an environmentalist named Ken SaroWiwa raised awareness about the horrible environment conditions of Nigeria. Billions of dollars from selling oil came to Nigeria. However, none of it was used to pay for new trees to be planted or money for the poor. Most of it was stolen, or spent for military purposes. Maybe in the future they will learn how to care for their environment and the people around them!

  8. Conclusion We learned a lot about Nigeria that we didn’t know before. I loved learning about a wonderful place. Researching this place was really fun! Working together on this project was really fun! I became closer with my group members! Meghan and Jackson were really awesome group members! Also, the Google document was really useful! I’ve never used one before! We hope you enjoyed viewing our presentation as much as we enjoyed researching Nigeria!

  9. Infographic Here is an Infographic about the population in different Nigerian States. Byeeeee! Kaduna has 6,113,503 people, Lagos has 9,113,605 people, and Kano has 9,401,288 people.
