Use PowerPoint to keep track of these action items during your presentation • In Slide Show, click on the right mouse button • Select “Meeting Minder” • Select the “Action Items” tab • Type in action items as they come up • Click OK to dismiss this box • This will automatically create an Action Item slide at the end of your presentation with your points entered. ENS Project Status Søren Poulsen EL-TC presentation February 29, 2000

  2. Status Summary • New ENS • ENS hardware and software is installed in B212 • System is operational for communication testing • SEPAM and MICENE data are integrated (SE1) • Existing System • Old system is still fully operational • Some data can be seen with both system

  3. Examples - screen-shots (1) • Synoptic diagrams (work in progress…) • CERN, Point 1 (layout, diagram) • Alarm list • Descriptions, filtering, acceptance • Real-time trends • Power, current of feeder

  4. Examples - screen-shots (2) • Archives… • Nothing yet... • Lists • Events • Data points • Time tags • Log-in • Authentication

  5. Progress • Basic system • Development of CERN Front End interface • Development of MICENE and SEPAM integration • Other (simpler) equipment to be integrated soon... • System configuration (database) • Development of database definitions for equipment • Development of synoptic diagrams etc.

  6. Attention Areas • Major difficult areas • Integration of CERN non-industrial equipment with industrial supervisory system • Understanding of the CERN equipment required by the contractor • Documentation required and produced • Other areas • Integration in CERN environment • Integration with other CERN systems (CAS)

  7. Schedule • ENS First release • Operational from April 3rd • Covers LEP Point 1 (SE1) • Covers integration with CERN systems • RTU Pilot Project • Operational from April 3rd • SEM11 MICENEs replaced by RTU system • Integration with ENS system

  8. Training • To be provided by contractor (end of March) • General training in overall supervision system • Special training in RTU system • Provided for users involved in operation • Everybody needs to become familiar with system from now on… • Special introduction to be provided to people directly involved

  9. Operator terminals and user interfaces • Possibilities • Modern X terminals • “dedicated” PC-based terminals • ...CERN recommendation pending (support) • Proposed new operator terminals • Dedicated X terminal for Point 1 (SE1) • Dedicated X terminal for 104 “Control room” • Any NICE office PC can be used

  10. Operational changes (1) • General alarm supervision: CAS • Alarms from SE1 to be included in new “category tree” • No SE1 alarms in old “category tree” • Detailed supervision: ENS • Supervision via new facilities (synoptics, etc.) • No SEM11 information in OLD system

  11. Operational changes (2) • Local control • RTU system in SEM11 • Independent of ENS • Local control in the case of disturbances • Synoptic diagrams • Local alarm lists

  12. What to do ? • Personnel involved in operation • I will arrange for a personal demonstration and introduction to operation • Personnel NOT involved in operation • Request personal demonstration • Request setup of operator terminal (PC) • Everybody • Give feedback and comments
