Notices/Dates: • Children’s Hallowe’en event on Thursday 31st October in the Red Lion. Details to follow in separate email. • Please note that pick up times are 11.45 after the morning session, 12.45 after lunch club and 2.45pm on Tuesday afternoons. Please ensure that you pick children on time as it can be upsetting for the children when the others are all going and also disrupts the start of next session. Please try to phone ahead and let us know if you are unavoidably late. • On the far wall of the playroom there is a painted tree, which is our “ideas tree”. If your child mentions something that they would really like to do at preschool, or something they have done which they would like to do more of, then please feel free to note it down and blutak it onto the tree. If at all possible we will then incorporate it into our planning. • From the Committee: • Many thanks to all who attended the AGM. • This week we have… • Had a wonderful cookery week, making flapjack, apple and pear crumble, sweet potato curry, chocolate seed cakes and pizza, most of which we then ate as snack. • Arts and Crafts: we have spent a lot of time practising using scissors this week, cutting out Autumn pictures and food which we stuck onto paper plates. • Tuesday afternoon: We walked down to the Allotments to look at the vegetables growing and pick Julie’s pumpkin. However it was too big to carry back so it will appear at preschool very soon! • The children have been making some beautiful Christmas cards, which will be sent away to be professionally made into cards, that you will be able to buy, with some of the profits going towards Preschool funds. • On Friday we went for a walk and made Autumn bracelets by sticking leaves onto sticky tape strips around our wrists. • Music and Movement: This week Helen (Edward’s mum) brought a flute and piccolo and we had great fun trying to make sounds, listening to some lovely nursery rhyme tunes and listening to the range of the instruments (very high!). We have also used the scarves to talk about Autumn weather and sung songs about food. • Next week… • Could you please bring in any small jam jars, flower pots and small tins for our activities. Many thanks. • Show and Tell: Letter of the week next week is “F,f”. This Week At Allsorts14/10/2013
