  1. CDS Business Mapping RiskMeter Online Mapping for the Next Millennium Wildfire Hazard Model Features & Benefits

  2. How the Model Was Created CDS used CALVEG vegetation data to create the model. CALVEG breaks down vegetation/landcover into 60+ categories for the state of CA. While CALVEG is excellent data, there are two main problems: - 60 categories are too many for underwriters to deal with - The user does not know which categories have a high potential to burn CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  3. CDS Reclassified the 60 categories into 4 CDS did research on how well each type of “fuel” burned The 60+ categories were then reclassified based upon the research into 4 categories as follows: - High - Medium - Low - Very Low CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  4. The CalVeg is Transformed Into Useable Info: This is Transformed Into This CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  5. If your currently using the Renie Ad Map or Robinson Rating Maps, this is what you’ll see. The user is expected to find the house, and then “Guestimate” the distance to brush with the scale bar. • This is inaccurate and wastes time! CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  6. In Addition, Renie Books Only Cover Six Counties If you’re using the Renie books now, what is your solution for the remainder of the state? Not Covered By Renie Counties Covered by Renie CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  7. Renie Maps VS RISKMETER RiskMeter Covers the Whole State!! Renie Maps only cover the purple counties! CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  8. The Wildfire Hazard Model will give you a complete picture of brush hazards. Actual RiskMeter Lookup This product is ideal for insurers and agents to screen properties for proximity to brush. CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  9. Where is the Brush in California? Everywhere! CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  10. Zip and County Lists don’t Work! • There is brush throughout the state • Failure to check addresses in most counties could result in missing large patches of brush • The brush patterns do not follow Zip Boundaries as shown on this map! • Zip lists must be constantly updated, and become out of date quickly • Where would you come up with a list of Zip’s? 12. To calculate the distance to brush hazards, the RiskMeter uses a set of concentric circles to measure the distance to brush fire hazards. 0.5 Miles 1.0 Miles 1.5 Miles CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  13. We can set the brush distances to meet your underwriting guidelines 0.25 Miles 0.50 Miles 0.75 Miles 1.00 Miles 1.0 Miles 1.5 Miles 2.0 Miles Some companies use equal increments Others use only the distances used in their brush guidelines CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  14. CDS has now added aerial images which appear side-by-side! Note the two maps are exactly the same size and scale! If you zoom in on one, the other map will automatically re-scale! CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  15. The RiskMeter • Automatically determines the proximity to brush The underwriter does not have to interpret the map at all • This is a state-wide solution Actually, the CDS Wildfire model now covers 11 states! • Because there is brush throughout the state, it should be used on ALL risks • Uses your distance guidelines • It uses the distance parameters as set by you. No need to “measure to the brush” • Can be automatically used to quote & bind because it gives back a specific value CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  16. If we inspect properties, why use the RiskMeter? • Inspections are at the end of the process, not the beginning • You want to identify brush concerns up-front • Why have the agent do work if the property will be declined? • Why have the homeowner apply if they will not be accepted? • Why have the underwriter do work if the property will be declined? • Failure to screen up-front will result in angry agents and prospects! • You are asking underwriters to do unnecessary work CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium

  17. When should the RiskMeter be used? • The RiskMeter should be used by both agents and underwriters to screen for brush up-front • Companies may choose to pay for agents, or agents can sign up for an account on their own • The RiskMeter can be linked to agent portals for auto-login and to use the company’s underwriting rules • The product can also be integrated into underwriting systems • Because there is brush throughout the state, the product should be used to check for brush on all risks CDS Business Mapping Mapping for the Next Millennium
