Germany Invades Poland • September 1- October 6,1939 • was an invasion of Poland by Germany, the Soviet Union, and a small Slovak contingent that marked the beginning of World War II in Europe. • The German invasion began on 1 September 1939, while the Soviet invasion commenced on 17 September The campaign ended on 6 October with Germany and the Soviet Union dividing and annexing the whole of Poland.

  3. D-Day Invasion • June 6, 1944 • The Normandy landings, codenamed Operation Neptune, were the landing operations of the Alliedinvasion of Normandy, in Operation Overlord, during World War II. The landings commenced on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 (D-Day), beginning at 6:30 am British Double Summer Time. The attack led to the United States' entry into World War II.
