P1609 Project Status Update • IEEE Standards Association Standards Board approved in January 2016 • IEEE 1609.2™-2016 -- WAVE - Security Services • IEEE 1609.4™-2016 -- WAVE - Multi-channel Operations • IEEE 1609.3™-2016 -- WAVE - Networking Services • IEEE 1609.12™-2016 -- WAVE - Identifier Allocation • Note: Reference baseline for anticipated NHTSA Regulatory Rule-making • Revision of IEEE Std 1609.0™-2012 – WAVE - Architecture, in development, align to contents of revised standards • Discussion of proposed additional content during September meeting – terminology • Expected development completion 4Q 2016 – 1Q 2017

IEEE Std 1609.2™ Amendment • Project Authorization Requests (PARs) • Proposed amendment content change to include deployment Guidance Notes and error correction (P1609.2a) • Proposed new Part 1 formerly reported as part of proposed amendment – security certificate management (P1609.2.1) • Revised PAR approvals expected in December 2016 • PAR is active for 4 years, project plan is to develop and approve work products in 12-18 months • Development of P1609.2.1 dependent on CAMP study results

P1609.12 Revision Project • Create process and procedures for requesting, allocating, and maintaining a register of Provide Service Identifier (PSID), considerations include: • IEEE Registration Authority Committee (RAC) Policy, Terms of Reference, and Conventions • IEEE 1609 WG PSID sub-group (SG) structure, composition, roles and responsibilities, part of RAC process (proposed) • Remove allocated PSID list from standard, post to IEEE RAC site • Establish process for IEEE 1609 WG to review, approve requests for allocation of PSIDs collaborating with SAE J2735 TC, and coordinate posting of approved identifiers with IEEE RAC Administrator • Coordination for international allocations of PSIDs (a.k.a., ITS-AID) to follow and in collaboration with US-EC HTF, HTG#7 task for a global ITS registries (June 2016 meetings)

IEEE SCC42 Projects • P2040, Standard for Connected, Automated and Intelligent Vehicles: Overview and Architecture • Scope: “…defines an architectural framework for connected, automated and intelligent vehicles…leverages existing applicable standards • “…promote cross-domain interaction, aid system interoperability and functional compatibility, and further benefit humanity by helping develop an active, open and cooperative ecosystem for the future of transportation

IEEE SCC42 Projects • P2040.1, Standard for Connected, Automated and Intelligent Vehicles: Taxonomy and Definitions • Scope: “…specifies the taxonomy and definitions for connected, automated and intelligent vehicles” • Defines “…terms used in the 2040 family of connected, automated and intelligent vehicles standards” • “…facilitate cross-domain discussions and collaborations by defining different types/levels of connectivity, automation and intelligence as well as their various combinations applied to vehicles.”

IEEE SCC42 Projects • P2040.2, Standard for Connected, Automated and Intelligent Vehicles: Testing and Verification • Scope: “…defines an overarching framework of testing and verification of the connectivity, automation and intelligence aspects and their combination for connected, automated and intelligent vehicles…identifies existing applicable standards for testing and verification, and defines the integration of these standards into a consistent testing environment.” • “…include the technical requirements for testing, the processes required and identify gaps in the existing standards that will need to be addressed for testing purposes.”
