[4] Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum (2) • Chairman: Tadao Saito, Professor emeritus, the Universityof Tokyo • The members consist of various telecom operators, vendors and academics (214 members as of 24 March 2006) • It investigates and establishes technical standards for the next generation IP networks, verifies them through the experimental and interoperability tests, and promotes R&D and standardization activities 6th CJK Standards Meeting in Hangzhou

  11. [A-1] What is TTC? • Established in October 1985 • Fairness • Transparency (Openness) • Efficiency • Independence • Last year was our 20th anniversary 6th CJK Standards Meeting in Hangzhou

[A-2] What is TTC? • A private and non-profit organization accredited by the Administration of Japan as a technical standards development organization (SDO) • Mission : to determine, produce and disseminate the standards on information & communication technology (ICT) except for those related directly to radio telecommunications • Membership: open to any companies and individuals • Supported by the voluntary efforts of members 6th CJK Standards Meeting in Hangzhou

[A-3] Why TTC develops its own stds? • Int’l stds may sometimes be a product of “compromise” which result in many options;TTC selects the option adequate for Japanese market • Int’l stds do not always reflect the Japanese market demands/requirements; TTC develops original stds (“JJ stds”) • Int’l stds may sometimes be “ambiguous” and may be understood in a different manner when applied to the practical implementation; TTC creates guidelines and explanation (“Supplements”) 6th CJK Standards Meeting in Hangzhou
