  3. YEAR 11 ENTRY You need to demonstrate a proven commitment to Year 10 studies to progress into Year 11

Why have a Personal Learning Plan (PLP)? • A PLP will assist young people establish the necessary path to achieve their career goalsand further education goals • Assists young people to learn about themselves • Assists young people toset realistic goalsand explore how to achieve those goals • It is a great way to help young people take responsibility for their future

YEAR 10 PATHWAY INTERVIEWS • Know what your choices are (subjects at school) • Explore career Options (RESEARCH; talk to parents and teachers; attend career information sessions) • Investigate career pathways (how to achieve your goal; mycareermatch online career profile) • Match education and training to your career goals, QTAC prerequisite 2017

  7. Senior Phase • Working towards a goal: • University entry (57%) • Apprenticeship/Traineeship (13%) • Employment (30%) • All students working towards a Queensland Certificate of Education QCE (or Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement QCIA <1%)

  8. QCE • 20 credits, sound/pass • 3 completed (4 sem or cert) • Literacy and Numeracy • More info see www.qcaa.qld.edu.au QCIA individually designed for students studying modified programs

  9. Senior Phase General curriculum structure: • RE, English, Maths • + 3 electives from • QCAA subjects • certificates

  10. Senior Phase Therefore all students are eligible to qualify for a QCE or QCIA (SAT students may take longer than 2 years)

Pathways More Detailed • The QTAC Selection Rank • A selection rank is a measure that places students in an order of merit for entry to tertiary courses. • ranks apply to OP ineligible students, and • ranks can also apply to OP students in some instances (QTAC uses best rank – OP or TER) • the scale is 1-99, with 99 being the highest. (OP is 1 highest to 25 lowest) TER

  17. Pathways OP • Statewide rank order based on overall achievement in Authority subjects • Can lead to direct Unientry after yr12 • 5 Authority subjects (20 Semester units) • 3 to be studied for the full 4 semesters

  18. Pathways OP • Must sit QCS test in Yr. 12 • (All students are expected to sit) • Commit to QCS preparation program • At least 15 hours home study per week • Consider FIELD WEIGHTS

Field Weights • AExtended written expression involving complex analysis and synthesis of ideas. • BShort written communication involving reading and comprehension and expression. • CBasic numeracy involving simple calculations and graphical and tabular interpretation. • DSolving complexproblems involving mathematicalsymbols and abstractions. • ESubstantial practical performance involving physical or creative arts or expressive skills.
