Q2 Math Standards: • Division of whole numbers. • Add/Subtract Fractions with Unlike Denominators • Interpret a Fraction as a Division Problem • Extend Understandings of Multiplying a Fraction or Whole Number by a Fraction, Scaling (Resizing),and Word Problems with Multiplying Fractions • Divide Unit Fractions by Whole Numbers and • Whole Numbers by Fractions • Recognize Volume of Solid Figures

  11. Reading Foundational Skills RF 3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and analysis skills in decoding words. Rf 4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency To support comprehension.

  12. Grammar/Language L 1 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. Conjunctions, prepositions , interjections, perfect verb tenses, nouns, subject/verb agreement (function and form). L 2 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English Capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing. L 4 Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases including context clues and reference materials.

  13. Writing W1 – Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information. W2 – Writing informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

  14. Writing W3 – Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. W7 – Conduct short research projects that use several sources to build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic.

Identify the • rain shadow. • Natural events that impact the Earth • (eathquakes, volcanoes).

Science Q2 • Chapter 3 TN Ready Standards • Research, analyze compare and contrast the physical characteristics of the planets based on their composition, distance from the sun and apparent motion. • Compare and contrast the inner planets and outer planets. • Understand how stars are created, characterization of stars and the life span of a star. • Select the appropriate tool to use when identifying constellations.

Social Studies • Q2 We will be discussing Reconstruction after the Civil War,Industrialism and leading into Westward Expansion. • Items we will be covering during the Reconstruction are as follows: • 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments • Presidential vs. Congressional Reconstruction • Impeachment of Andrew Johnson • Radical Republicans • Military Reconstruction • Resistance to rights for African Americans • Tennessee Constitutional Convention of 1870 • Election of Rutherford B. Hayes/end of Reconstruction • Yellow fever in Tennessee • Election of African Americans to the General Assembly
