  3. General Characteristics: There are more than 8,600 species of birds. Birds live in many ecosystems across the globe. Birds range in size. All have a four-chambered heart. All have feathers and a beak with no teeth. Birds are warm-blooded All migrate. Birds maintain a constant body temperature where they don’t have to rely on the environmental temperature which makes them endothermic.

  4. General Characteristics: Birds can live in all environments from hot tropics to the frigid Antarctic. All reproduce by internal fertilization. All birds lay amniotic eggs inside a nest. Birds incubate, which means they sit on their eggs to keep them warm and turning the eggs so they develop properly. Birds have many different beaks that are adapted to eat different kinds of food.
