  1. Unit 5 Vocab By: Claire Riddell

  2. Acute angle • An angle that is smaller than 90 degrees

  3. Adjacent Angles • An adjacent angle is angles that are beside and close to each other.

  4. Axis • An axis is in a number line, and the axis is the point where the lines intersect.

  5. Bisecting an angle • Dividing an angle, into two smaller, individual angles.

  6. Concentric circles • A circle, in little circles that has different measures, Like in a target.

  7. Congruent figures • A shape that is identical to another shape.

  8. Consecutive angles • Angles that are in a shape, that are similar because they are on the same side.

  9. Corresponding angles or sides • Angles or sides with the same position.

  10. Inscribed • A shape that fits into a circle, with the vertices all touching the circles shape.

  11. Isometry • A reflection, translation, or a rotation.

  12. Transformation • A figure that has a reflection, translation, or a rotation. A reflection is the same exact figure, but backwards. A translation is the same figure but the same way it was, not backwards. A rotation is a figure that rotates to a certain side or degrees.

  13. Line of reflection • A line that separates two shapes that are aced the same way, and are exactly alike.

  14. Mid point • A point in between a line, with two other points.

  15. Obtuse angle • An angle larger than 90 degrees, but smaller than 180 degrees.

  16. Ordered number pair • Numbers that find a point on a grid.

  17. Parallel line • A parallel line is two lines that are beside each other and do not intersect.

  18. Perpendicular • Places or line segments that meet or intersect when they are at a right angle or 90 degree angle.

  19. Perpendicular bisector • An angle that separates into two angles that are perpendicular to each other.

  20. Preimage • A figure that is transformed by a reflection, rotation or a translation.

  21. Reflection • An image that is copied onto another grid/paper/etc. The same image is faced the exact same way and has the same shapes, or lines.

  22. Reflex angle • A reflex angle is an angle that is bigger than 180 degrees and smaller than 360 degrees.

  23. Right angle • An angle that is exactly 90 degrees and looks like two sides of a square.

  24. Rotation • A shape that is rotated from its original form.

  25. Sector • An area inside a circle with two radii.

  26. Straight angle • An angle that has exactly 180 degrees

  27. Supplementary angles • Bisecting angles that add up to 180 degrees.

  28. Translation • A shape that is copied by another shape, but is facing towards the same shape.

  29. Transversal • A line segment that interferes with other lines.

  30. Vertex • A point at which two lines comes together

  31. Vertical angles • Angles that don’t share a common side.
