    18. 2. What resources do plants and animals have to share in the desert? Click on this link to go to the web site: http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/glossary/gloss5/biome/deserts.html

    19. deserts are formed because of limited resources? As air moves up over a mountain range, it gets cold and loses the ability to hold moisture -- so it rains or snows. When the air moves down the other side of the mountain, it gets warmer. Warm air can hold lots of moisture, so it doesn't rain as much. Deserts are formed when precipitation is trapped in the warm air, and little rain falls to the ground.

    20. How do animals survive in the desert? As you know, water is a limited resource in the desert. Intense heat, searing sun, and lack of water are just a few of the challenges facing desert animals.

    21. Respond

    22. 3. How do desert plants and animals depend on each other? You are now going to research plants and animals at the Evergreen Biomes web site.

    23. 3. How are plants and animals are important to each other?

    24. Food Chain - Video

    25. Food Chains

    26. 5. How are plants and animals important to the desert ecosystem?

    27. Desert Ecosystem - Video

    28. Respond

    29. Take the Quiz… Directions: Try out your understanding of how plants and animals need each other with this quiz. Read the paragraphs. 2) In your journal, answer the questions in complete sentences.

    30. Desert Animal: Addax The addax is a clumsy-looking animal. Addax’s large, wide hoofs are adapted to walking on soft sand.

    31. Respond 1. What limited resource does the addax share with plants in the desert?

    32. Do you want to know more?
