Revised Preliminary Structure Preliminary Course • Better health for individuals (30%) • Body in motion (30%) Options • First aid (20%) • Composition and performance (20%) • Fitness choices (20%) • Outdoor recreation (20%) HSC Course • Health priorities in Australia (30%) • Factors affecting performance (30%) Options • Health of young people(20%) • SPAAS (20%) • Sports medicine (20%) • Improving performance(20%) • Equity and health (20%)

  4. Focus question ‘What role does health promotion play in achieving better heath for all Australians ?’ removed. ‘Priority areas’ replaced by ‘priority issues’

  5. Focus question ‘How does the body respond to aerobic training ?’ removed. ‘Recover strategies’ included

Key messages – revised Core 1 • Health contexts not defined – schools choose the realistic context most relevant for the teaching and learning (eg healthy eating, road safety, drug use) • Present a positive view of health • Introduce study of health promotion, the Ottawa Charter and social justice

  8. Outcome P3 A student describes how an individual’s health is determined by a range of factors

  9. ‘Anatomical structures’ revised to ‘musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems’ ‘How does the cardiorespiratory system respond to movement’ removed. ‘training’ added.
