  2. Agenda – August 14, 2012 • Introduction • Jennifer Schopf – Future Technologies Senior Program Manager • Updates by Group • Conferences • Education and Testbed • Standards and BoK • Publishing and Newsletter • Web Portal http://techsol.tnlexperts.com/2012/02/05/cloud-computing/

  3. Updates • Working Area – http://computer.org/cc • 31 STC members – • Leads with owner rights – LifeRay training if needed • Group members can participate in discussions; upload files and links • 21 more members to be added • JOIN button – functionality to be tested today • First discussions • CS CC STC – Refine / Define Scope • Each Group – Refine/ Define Goals and Scope Please start using it.

  4. Status – All • Define Scope – discussion in Working Area > CS CC STC: (1) Novel applications -best practices, case studies, common APIs; (2) Get info from CLOUD keynotes - security expert + testbeds • Cloud computing service/deployment/architecture models • Service ecosystems • High performance computing • Big data • Cloud based mobility • Determine customer needs, prioritize, get the bigger ones done first ->Chris will share results • Determine which activities will support IEEE CCI; Which are only ours

  5. Conferences LeaderSan Murugesan VolunteersJia ZhangPavanBalajiMooney ShermanCaltonPuGabor Kecskemeti Staff ExpertsCarrie WalshCarmen Saliba • Determine CS CC conferences assets • Initiate activities at CC conferences • Recruit volunteers from CC conferences to contribute to Web Portal, Newsletter, and BoK groups. Proposed Activities • At a few key conferences primarily focussed on ‘computing’ aspects in different regions: • Have a Town Hall session – Brief presentation on What IEEE CS CC STC is and its goals, work under progress, and what is planned for the near term. • Seek feedback, suggestions on what CC STC could do • Seek volunteer for key areas of work or with specific expertise • Other conferences: • Get a good promotional slide presentation with voice over, or a good video (10-15 min), explaining CC STC and it activities, and seeking participants input, in any. • Ask the conference organisers of each conference to play this at the conference. • Once CC STC work has progressed, say from mid 2013 or 2014, at conferences have briefing sessions outlining details of work that has been completed, and seek feedback. • LJ has volunteered to promote our activities at Asia-Pacific Services Computing Conference, China, Dec 2012. Thanks to LJ.

  6. Conferences (Continued) LeaderSan Murugesan VolunteersJia ZhangPavanBalajiMooney ShermanCaltonPuGabor Kecskemeti Staff ExpertsCarrie WalshCarmen Saliba • Present a list of IEEE & IEEE CS sponsored or co-sponsored conferences in cloud computing area, from 2010. • Upcoming conferences: Brief details, location, dates, Web link to conference site, CFP deadline, link to CFP • Past conferences: : Brief details, location, dates, Web link to conference site, CFP deadline, link to Proceedings, link to a list of featured articles (max 10). • Featured Articles from each conference: Title, author, link to article. • Ask program chairs and/or volunteers to nominate upt o 10 best articles covering different aspects • For upcoming conferences, ask Program Chairs to mention in CFP that best articles will be recognised as featured articles in IEEE CS CC portal (provide link to the portal). • Both Conference List and Featured articles info @the portal • Cheryl has just provided an updated list of approved CS conferences , related to CC

  7. Education LeaderDon Shafer VolunteersDennis FraileySan MurugesanLeandro Navarro Staff ExpertDorian McClenahan • Determine which courses/webinars will need use of testbed – Dennis and Don • Adjust SMEs database model for CS CC STC volunteers database – Dennis and Don • Cloud Specialization Courses Update • IEEE/CS Courses – Practitioner Focused 2012 hosted on IEEExplore • Cloud Overview Webinar • Cloud in the Business Environment • Cloud Economics, Metrics and Migration • Cloud Governance • Security issues in Cloud • IEEE Metro Area Workshops (MAW) – October 2012 – Dorian update • The Cloud in the Business Environment - a Manager's Overview • Security Issues in the Cloud • Focus is on the MAW for IEEE • This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our Cloud Computing initiative • Demonstrate the Testbed: ttp://cloudcomputing.ieee.org/innovations/testbed • Familiarize the community with our future IEEE P2302 Standard for Intercloud Interoperability cloud-to-cloud (Intercloud) protocols • Discuss future courses and materials available

  8. Standards LeaderChuck Walrad VolunteersMooney ShermanEric Burger Staff ExpertsAnne Marie • Determine CS CC Standards Assets • Recruit volunteers to contribute on Web Portal,Newsletter, and BoK groups • Determine CS volunteers on Cloud standards projects (12/112 and 8/134 acting members on CC standards groups) – Margo and Chuck • Our standards WG chair, David Bernstein, who was on the development team for the NIST whitepapers, is resigning the chairmanship to manage the cloud testbed. • A new chair has been selected from the existing team.

  9. Body of Knowledge LeaderChuck Walrad VolunteersPavanBalajiGayn WintersSan MurugesanEric BurgerMiyachi, Christine Staff ExpertsDante David • Design and implement a CC BoK • Assemble an Editorial Board • BoK Form factor will be wiki, not published book. Chris Jensen says that LifeRay has more capabilities than have been introduced to us, so we will have to examine it as a serious contender for our platform.Do we have someone on staff who is going to create the web pages in LifeRay? • The team has begun to develop topics for the BOK wiki, since there is no [known to us] pre-existing source that could be used to define Knowledge Areas. • Several participants from the Systers mailing list have sent me e-mails saying they are interested in participating in our efforts. Will follow up. • The Education group has already determined their areas of focus independently, so in order to present a cohesive front, our BoK should probably support those areas as its first “chapters”. • Sent Don info about P3301-2. Need his info about SMEs.  • Meeting scheduled with original BOK team this Thursday to get commitments and discuss method of determining knowledge areas/topics for BOK (partial list has been developed). • Will continue screening additional volunteers from Systers.
