Updates February report to IEEE CS STCs Leadership # members: 153 # volunteers (e.g., chairs, vice-chairs, officers, etc.): 11 Top successes in the past month: Appointed Leader of the Testbed Group and a Membership Leader Started Cloud Cover department in Computer magazine, contributed to the Special issue on CC of IT PRofessional magazine, helped with CFP for a special issue of Transactions on Cloud Computing for articles from CloudCom and UCC. Determined focus conferences - CLOUD, CloudCom, eScience, SC Created SM accounts -- Face Book, LinkedIn, Twitter -- posted STC introduction and first links to CC articles Publicized STC through Computer magazine, Tech Target, CLOUD 2013; sent personal invitations to CC conferences chairs --> Membership grew from 78 to 153

Updates February report to IEEE CS STCs Leadership(Continued): Top priorities in the next month: Appoint Leader of the Education Group, Secretary, and SM officers Submit proposal for CS CC STC Panel at CLOUD 2013 Produce first issue  of the Cloud Scape Newsletter - forum for status one STC work Map IT CC Guide questions and solicit for authors Publicize STC through IT Professional magazine, IEEE CCI portal > Innovations page, send personal invitations to editors of CC publications, sent invitations to be distributes at local sections and conferences --> grow membership Top needs i.e., what does your STC need help with? How to get funding for printing brochures and even to support travel of STC Leaders to conferences where we organize events (panels, talks, etc.)? What procedures should we follow to get sponsorship from outside. In the past month, how many conferences agreed to advertise your STC? (e.g., posters, leaflets, etc.): 3

Staff Updates IMPORTANT – STILL OUTSTANDING - Query about course work for CLOUD 2013 – staff waiting on LJ for acceptable price range Join button – will be adding suspend feature for failover times Please send me a complete list of people who need to be notified of failovers (when you should not edit pages) – I had been notifying Irena and Christina M, but somehow edits are still taking place 3 additional web page editors – given to staff 3/7, will follow up shortly Request for CLOSER MOU – last week staff requested this be put on hold for 1-2 weeks as TCS issues for STCs are worked out, still on hold Template for newsletter – looks like ~18th (delayed in part by dealing with other urgent requests from the CC STC, apologies) Same as Previous weeks Waiting on Staff - 9x11 flyer – also in the hands of staff, but because of the additional work with the tri-fold this will be delayed (Jan 11) Waiting on Vol - Marketing plan – still waiting on a clear, focused goal on the volunteer side before continuing discussions, timing flexible (Dec 15)

Publications Group Leader: San Murugesan Contents: Relevant, helpful information related to cloud computing: news, brief info on recent developments, highlights of cloud articles in CS (and IEEE) publications, CFPs, links to helpful resources (reports, white papers, books, tools), info resources on a particular topic (bimonthly), and more. Format: In PDF. Suitable for viewing on multiple devices (PCs, iPad, e-books, smart phones). Delivery:Mailed to subscribers (free subscription, compliments of IEEE CS) and also accessible from the bulletin website. This website will also be linked at relevant IEEE and CS Websites. Complements Other CS Publications. Transactions on Cloud Computing and Cloud computing magazine (to be launched), as well as the Web sites CCI portal and Computing Now. Scanning once in two months the table of contents (title/abstract of articles) of the CS magazines published in the previous month and preparing a list of articles in the cloud computing area (incl. bibliographic information). Content Curator – Transactions Enthusiastic persons to curate content from CS transactions. If it is about cloud computing it probably is relevant. It must not be an advertisement, even if the ad is about cloud computing (conference, text book, etc.)

Secretary: Acquire monthly progress reports from all Group Leads and generate a monthly summary report in a consistent format for the STC chair; Help leadership team with current organizational tasks. Treasurer: Interact with board on financial regulations, particularly for sponsorship and for setting up agreements with external organizations. Membership officers (2 positions: Help produce reports on joined members from different invitation lists. Need to have experience in Java programming.
  13. Questions It is the High-Tech Wild, Wild West out there. Although the CC marketplace is still chaotic, it is: Exciting Fast-growing Full of opportunities.
