  4. Types of library users • Academic staff • Administration staff • Students Regular students Extension students • Researchers • External readers

  5. General rules and regulations of the Library • All noise must be kept to an absolute minimum • Using mobile phones in the library is strictly forbidden • Group discussion is not allowed in the reading areas. • Writing and drawing on tables, carrels, walls is strictly forbidden. • Moving of chairs and tables from place to place is not allowed. • Smoking in any part of the library is absolutely forbidden. • Eating, Drinking (except water) and chewing “chat” in any part of the library is not permitted. • Users must not reserve places by leaving their belongings on tables. • Posting, distributing materials, announcements in the library, etc…, with out the approval of the librarian, is not permitted.

  6. Borrowing • To borrow library materials, the borrower should apply in person at the circulation desk • University ID Card and library pockets are must to borrow library material • A borrower is responsible for library materials borrowed in his or her name. • Borrowers loosing or failing to return material or returning materials in damaged condition are subject to charges.

  7. Renewals • All items may have their loan periods renewed by the circulation desk staff, unless the item has been requested by another person • Renewal is made by personal application • If the date due has already expired renewal will be authorized only on personal request of the borrower, provided that any fine incurred is paid

  8. Hold • Library users may request for a book to be reserved when the book required has been borrowed by other readers • Borrowed library materials my be reserved by filling in “Reserve Request Form” at the circulation desk

  9. Fines • Over due fines are 25 cents per day per book for all students • Over due fines for reserve items are 1.00 birr per hour for all library borrowers • Recall fines for reserve items are 1.00 birr per day for all library borrowers • Eth. Birr 2.00 will be charged for replacement of lost pocket • All categories of fines are strictly enforced

  10. Recall • The college librarian may recall any item on loan from any borrower at any time, especially if the material is requested by another user. • Not more than one reservation of the same edition of a given title may be made

  11. Use of ICT services • The college library computers are to be used for information searches with priority for studies and research. • The use of computer and other network resources are subject to the rules and regulations of the Addis Ababa University Network (AAU Net). • If the user wants to use secondary device like flash desk he/her must be scan the device before • You can use the manual public catalogue to search library materials by using Author, Title and subject.

  12. Replacement of lost or damage books • A borrower shall replace a book if it is lost. • In case borrower fails to replace a lost or damaged book with in fifteen days from the due date of its return, he/she shall pay to the library three fold of the cost of the book. • A user loosing or damaging Library books repeatedly shall be debarred from using the library.

  13. Departing procedure/Clearance • All students, faculty members, and staff are required to clear their library account with the college at graduating or leaving the college. • A member must return all the library materials borrowed by him/her and clear all library dues before Appling for library clearance.
