  2. Rules • Come to the Library to work; not play • Always work quietly in the Library – use a whisper • Keep the books to the front of the shelf • Return books to the “Please Shelve Me” cart • Walk (not run) in the library • Keep chairs flat on the floor • Checkout will end each day at 2:15 pm

  3. Consequences • What do you think the consequences should be? • Time out • Writing assignment • Lose library privilege • Lose AR testing privilege

  4. Guidelines • Two books • Two students per class with the library pass • Use library card and shelf marker • Check books in with barcode on back near top • Do not re-shelve books after you remove the shelf marker • Books are your responsibility – you must pay for lost or damaged books

  5. Location, Location, Location • Reference • Nonfiction • Fiction • Easy • Biography • Computers • Magazines • Reading Centers

  6. Patrons’ Catalog • Keyword • Title • Author • Subject • Reading Program

  7. What books do I want? • Read the Summary • Check availability • Write the Call Number and Title

  8. STAR Testing • STAR Testing must be done before AR testing begins • STAR Testing will be done by teacher or scheduled for media center testing • STAR Testing provide the zone for reading levels • Students must test within their levels unless teacher approves a test outside their level

  9. Accelerated Reader Books • Not shelved in order by level • Not all books with AR Tests have the AR Label • You may check out any books, but you should only test in your reading range • You can only test on books one time – this includes test from previous years • You should not test on a book you have not read

  10. AR Continued • You should not share your password with anyone • You should not take a test for another student • Read each week to reach your goal; don’t try do get all your points the last day

  11. AR BookFinder • A web site to locate books that have AR test • Not all books have to be in the BHES Library
