All About Me • My background • 9thyear at Wood Acres • Grew up in Montgomery County and graduated from Bethesda Chevy ChaseHigh School • My experience • Graduated from the University of Texaswith a degree in Political Science • Masters from Johns Hopkins Universityin Education • Always taught 5thgrade

  3. Communication • Wednesday Folders- all graded papers are returned on Wednesdays and parents sign the folder to acknowledge that they saw the work • 5th Grade Website! Check it out! • Emails can be found on the Wood Acres website.

  4. Math 6 • Unit 1: Data and Statistics • Unit 2: Fractions, decimals, and percents • Unit 3: Geometry • Unit 4: Algebra • Unit 5: Probability Please check out the 5th Grade Website for dates of quizzes, tests, projects, and other important information!

  5. Graded Work • Exit Cards • Weekly quizzes • Projects • Unit assessments • Unit re-assessments • Dates of quizzes and unit assessments will be posted on the website when they are approaching.

  6. Weekly Quizzes • Quizzes given almost every Friday. • Returned on Tuesday or Wednesday to correct in class. • Quizzes go home in the child’s Wednesday Folder for parents to see. Quizzes are then filed into their binder to review for a unit assessment. • An ASK ME ABOUT is posted on the website at least the day before a quiz.

  7. Ask Me About This is a typical Ask Me About. Students should study exit cards, math journal notes, and corresponding pages in their textbook.

  8. Unit Assessments • Review packets are given out usually a week prior to an assessment. They are also posted on the website. • Each unit has a county made unit assessment. • Each unit assessment has a reassessment except the last. • Unit assessments can not go home, but parents can come in to view the test after students have taken it. • Parents will get a Parent Report and test notice after each assessment.

  9. Test Notice • Half-sheet notice to be signed and returned to the teacher • Reassessment policy is posted on the notice.

  10. Homework • Students will be assigned homework Monday thru Thursday in math. Studying for a unit test or working on a project maybe assigned over a weekend. • 45 Minute Rule- If a child has been working for 45 minutes and isn’t done, please write 45 minutes on the top and sign their homework.
