  1. Jr. Beta Meeting 9/16/19

  2. Money & Dues • Mrs. Fluharty will be collecting money starting next week: • $25 for new members only** • $200 for convention • ** Students turning in convention money must have convention paperwork filled out. Students can print the paperwork needed from the Jr. Beta Club website (I will add it later this week). This paperwork must be notarized before turning it in to Mrs. Fluharty. • Students will sign up for a room at convention when they turn their money in.  No one will be placed in a room until they have paid. • Check made out to: CMS **with student's name in the for/memo line

  3. Service Hours • While National Beta does not set a minimum or maximum service hour requirement, as one of the four pillars of National Beta, service projects are encouraged as a way to demonstrate our motto: Let Us Lead by Serving Others. • Students must earn 10 Beta service hours for the 2019-2020 school year. Hours MUST be completed by Wednesday, April 8, 2020.   • While 10 hours are required, you are encouraged to complete more to help our Beta Club be recognized among all Beta Clubs at National Convention. Beta Awards are tallied each year and the top clubs with the most service hours are awarded and recognized at the National Convention in June. • Under no circumstance are Betas allowed to double-dip their CMS hours and Beta hours.  Beta hours are above and beyond the 10 service hours CMS requires for middle school students.

  4. Here are some ways students can earn hours:Individual volunteer activity -All hours must be recorded in the Individual Service form below. -Print a copy of the service sheet signed by the project coordinator. Family members may not sign off on any forms.Group volunteer activity -Jr. Beta will complete group service projects in the fall and spring semesters. -More information to come after our first meeting to discuss service projects. Link to the Individual Service Forms:  Junior Beta Service Hours (hard copy to be submitted in Teams) Junior Beta Service Hours Form (online form)At the end of each year, service hours are tallied and the top clubs in both Senior and Junior Beta with the most service hours are awarded and recognized at National Beta Convention in June. Please see Ms. Denton & Ms. Svarda if you have any questions.
