Engineering Saturday’s at the Austin’s Children Museum • Go out and host fun engineering activities for kids. • Paper Plane Activity – help kids design, create, and test their very own paper plane! • Introduce basic science and engineering concepts (aerodynamics, lift, fluid dynamics, Magnus effect, E=mc^2, etc…) as they design and create their plane.

Facts* • Velociraptor lived from 75 to 71 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period. • 100% of paleontologists and Michael Crichton agree: most awesomeist dinosaur ever. • They had no known natural enemies, except electric fences and that hot chick from Jurassic Park. • Wicked toe claws. • Diet: other dinosaurs, God-complex-having scientists and unsuspecting theme park visitors. • Now, they spend most of their time sitting in your gas tank and making your car go vroom. • As such, Velociraptors are the single greatest source of greenhouse emissions. 75 million years old and still terrifying people! * “Facts”

Velociraptor in the community • North Park YMCA Fall Harvest Carnival • What:Fun fall gathering for prey… uhh, kids! • Why:Volunteers needed to assist with face painting, petting zoo, serving food (note: the children are not food--we asked), etc. • When:Sunday, Oct. 26, 3:30-6:00PM • Where:North Park YMCA (duh), 9616 N. Lamar • How:By any means necessary. Wear a costume if you’d like (keep it age-appropriate for kids). YOU GET A FREE T-SHIRT IF YOU COME VOLUNTEER. HOLY CRAP, FREE STUFF. DON’T THINK. JUST DO IT.

  17. Town Lake Animal Center Date: Saturday, November 15th Time: 8am-12pm Goal: To help animals by upkeep of the shelter, such as landscaping (more details in the future) Attire: Closed-toe shoes, preferably matching T-shirt color (such as…orange? :P)
