M.I.’s Findings • Delay in making payment to FCI • One month’s buffer stock is not maintained in some schools • Drinking water is either missing or unhygienic • Difference in actual attendance and children availing mid day meal • Poor implementation of School Health Programme • De-worming tablets and Micronutrients (Vitamin A, Iron Folic Acid) distributed in few schools only • School Health Card maintained in 40% schools • Community/Parents are not aware about the quantity and entitlement of nutrients in mid day meal in almost 80% cases • No discrimination observed in terms of gender, caste or community

  37. Major Finding by Review Mission (30th Jan’12 to 6th Feb12) i) Delay in fund release ii) Delay in payment of honorarium to cook-cum-helpers (CCH) iii) Different norms of payment of honorarium to CCH in Lohardaga district iv) Lack of Awareness on MDM guidelines v) Unavailability of cooking cost at schools. vi) Lack of management structure at various levels. vii) Absence of social audit. viii) Absence of Grievance Redressal Mechanism Monotonous Menu in Khunti district. x) Too many registers for record management xi) Low coverage of children against Enrolment xii) Delay in submission of accounts by Saraswati Vahini and VEC

  38. The MDM Logo should be Widely Publicized. It may be Painted at prominent Places on the outside wall of the school. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
