  2. THINK SAFETY 1st • Practice ALL safety precautions. • Follow all OSHA & Manufacturers safety recommendations. • Wear protective gear

  3. Step One Prepare the Joints

  4. Step 1 – Proper Storage Use blocking to stage the joints OUT of the dirt All materials and joints must be kept clean

  5. Step 1 – Clean the Joints Clean the bell AND the spigot Remove all dirt and debris

  6. Step 1 – Inspect the Joints Inspect the Bell and Spigot This is a good joint Report cracks to your supervisor

  7. Step 1 – Prime the Joints Best results are obtained with the application of a water- based adhesive primer

  8. Step Two Install Joint Materials

  9. Step 2 – Install Joint Materials Two Seals are required Gaskets to keep the structure watertight Mastic to keep back the gasses

  10. Step 2 – Apply Butyl to Shoulder Apply ONELAYER of approved butyl tape

  11. Step 2 – Apply Butyl to Shoulder Place butyl tape on the INSIDE shoulder of the structure

  12. Step 2 – Apply Butyl to Shoulder Do NOToverlap the end of the butyl tape Apply Gasket to Spigot

  13. Step 2 - Install O-Ring PLACE on SPIGOT 1 2 LUBE GASKET 1 2 3 4 EQUALIZE INSPECT 4 3

  14. Step 2-Install Single Offset 1 2 PLACE ON SPIGOT 1 2 LUBE SPIGOT with GASKET ON 3 4 EQUALIZE INSPECT 4 3

  16. Step Three Lubricate

  17. Step 3 – Lubricate Lube inside the bell. Do NOT put lube on top of butyl tape.

  18. Step 3 – Lubricate the Spigot Insure the spigot has been lubed properly according to the type of the gasket.

  19. Step Four Set Section

  20. Step 4 – Select Proper Equipment Use of Proper Lifting Equipment Promotes Safety Prevents Damage to Structure Eases Installation

  21. Step 4 – Lifting Apparatus Use proper lift pins and bars available from Atlantic

  22. Step 4 – Machinery Use machinery capable of lifting the structure. Call our office for the weight of your structures

  23. Step 4 – Set Section Keep the Structure Level Center the Sections and Lower into Position

  24. Step 4 – Set Section Squeeze out of the butyl tape should occur as the joints seat themselves

  25. Step Five Visual Inspection

  26. Step 5 – Visual InspectionsLook inside and outside structure Make sure the joints are seated evenly all around

  27. Step 5 – Visual InspectionsLook inside and outside structure If the joints are not even, raise the section and adjust. Use clean butyl

  28. Step 5 – Visual InspectionsLook inside and outside structure Plug lift holes with suitable non-shrink grout
