  4. History • Initial Trial from October – December 2002 • Semi permanent in 2003 • Full time in 2004,2005 and now 2006

  5. Partnership • Partnership between Liquor Accord members notably: • Liquor Accord Licensees – Tigers Club, Kangaroos Club,, Walshes Hotel, Queanbeyan Leagues Club and Royal Hotel • Greater Southern Area Health – Drink Drive Prevention Team • RTA – Southern Region • Queanbeyan City Council – Road Safety Officer • Monaro Command – Queanbeyan Police – Licencing Sergeant • Department Gaming Racing

  6. The service transport is provided by Deanes Buslines using a 35 seat bus.Patrons are ‘delivered’ close to their “door”This service is paid for by contributions from the participating Licensees.

  7. A Security guard travels with the bus, providing both security and assisting the driver by notifying the clubs and pubs that the bus is available. The Security Guard is paid for by the RTA.

  8. The Go Bus Service runs from • 12 midnight to 4:30 • Fri Sat nights • Club loop • Main Street • Last run from the Royal Hotel

  9. Participating Clubs • Tigers • Kangaroos Club • Walshes • Leagues Club • Royal Hotel • (two non participating Hotels)

  10. 2005 • 4760 passengers • 1874 males, 1936 females identified • $6687 contributed by passengers • $15,750.00 from the RTA for Security • $33,669.65 from Licensee contributions • Total cost is $56106.65 • Equates to $11.79 per passenger for the year • Or $10.38 pp after passenger contributions are removed

  17. Summary : Effectiveness? • Numbers carried – at least 4.5 thousand per year – safely home without driving • SCAN – Safer Communities & Neighborhoods – Police report for the last 2 years has regularly applauded the reduction in Alcohol related Street Crime
