  2. The Dauphin Island Sea Lab At Dauphin Island I learned lots of really cool stuff! • The Dauphin island sea lab is an island that is filled with lots of interesting things and you can learn A LOT. • Did you know that Dauphin Island’s real name was Massacre island because when people started going to this island a whole bunch of human bones were everywhere so they called it massacre island! • People did not want to go to a island called massacre island, who would! So then they started to call it dauphin island. They re-named this island in 1699!!! • I also learned about animals in the sea . • I learned that animals with no backbone are called invertebrates ,97% of animals are invertebrates. • Animals that have a backbone are called vertebrates, 3% are vertebrates, that really surprised me!

  3. The Salt Marsh!!! • A salt marsh is a home for mostly baby animals to hide and protect themselves • It is very fun and very muddy. • It is filled with tall grasses called needle point grass. • You can find baby hermit crabs, blue crabs baby fish, snails and lots of oysters. • Many people don’t know how important salt marshes are lots of baby animals are living there and trying to survive. • There is some muddy and not so muddy parts of a salt marsh….so WATCH OUT you may get stuck

  4. The Touch Squid lab!!! • The touch squid lab is where you get to learn more about all different kinds of animals and their cousins! • At the touch squid lab you even get to dissect a squid! • A really cool fact I learned about the sea cucumber is a sea cucumber spits out its internal organs to confuse predators they will eventually grow back. • We also got to hold real dead animals!!!
