  1. Authors : Fabien BARRY Pierre Bonnefoy Version : A20 Date : 09/03/12 RFID Partners INTEGRATION ON THE OMNII PLATFORM

  2. Webminar RFID Partners Table of Contents Chapter 1 : Presentation of the OMNII Family Chapter 2 : Overview / Mechanical Expansion Areas Chapter 3 : Expansion Ports and Connectors Chapter 4 : GPS & WWAN options / Hardware location and impact on the integration Chapter 5 : Expansion Device Requirements Chapter 6 : New mechanical supports for Partners Chapter 7 : Options Compatibility Matrix

  3. Chapter 1 : Presentation Omnii platform • The Omnii platform was been developed to be flexible to adapt as your business needs change. This is Open innovation! • As the next evolution of the Omnii platform, the XT15 Version takes the best features of the XT10 and adds new functionality to create a device that gives the greatest access to business applications. • Main Differences between the XT10 and XT15 version :

  4. Chapter 2 : Mechanical Expansion Areas • There are 3 main areas where the custom expansion modules can be mounted on the Omnni platform End-cap Back Cover Pod

  5. Chapter 3 : Expansion Port and connectors Positions of the electrical connectors on the Omnii platform : Scanner / Imager connector Endcap Expansion Audio Expansion Pod Expansion Camera connector Multi-Function Expansion • Different connectors available for RFID integration • Be careful as most of them cannot be used due to electrical consumption constraints • Some of these connectors are already used by existing options like Barcode scanner, GPS, camera….

  6. Chapter 3 : Expansion Port and connectors Electrical Characteristics (without options) :

  7. Chapter 4 : GPS & WWAN Options Impact on the Hardware Location of the RCB (GPS only) : • If the GPS or WWAN option are installed, it will occupy the 100 pin connector. • GPS by default on the radio carrier board (RCB) • Unused pins duplicated to the J1 and J3 connectors -> still available for others devices Location of the WWAN module :

  8. Chapter 4 : GPS & WWAN Options Impact on the Antenna • The GPS and the WWAN antennas are located in the End-Cap • Possibility to get both options together Location of the GPS Antenna : GPS + WWAN ANTENNAS Location of the GPRS / UMTS antennas :

  9. Chapter 5 : Expansion device requirements Device EEPROM • Each expansion device must be equipped with a Maxim DS2431 EEPROM. • 1 wire EEPROM is used • Give specific identifiers (Manufacturer and Model number) Device Registry Keys • Registry keys and values must be added to the Omnii registry • Provide to Omnnii information about the device • Configure the data pins of the expansion port appropriately

  10. Chapter 6 : Mechanical Supports for Partners • Existing GPS / Radio bracket • UHF RFID bracket : no Radio compliant • End-cap : no radio compliant / good aesthetic • Slim Pod : Radio Compliant / Bad aesthetic

  11. Chapter 7 : Compatibility Matrix • This chart takes into account only existing mechanical parts • If WWAN option chosen it will automatically comes with GPS option • Possibility for Partners to make a new specific mechanical support for a suitable design
