The number of ones and zeros (bits) used to create each pixel denotes the depth of color you can put into your images. • Main Internet Raster formats: • GIF • JPEG • Bitmap • Others (e.g., JIF, CLP, DCX)

Master Technology Teacher Knows How To: • Use different file formats • Bitmap Format: A raster image comprised of pixels in a grid. • Each pixel or "bit" in the image contains information about the color to be displayed. • Have a fixed resolution and cannot be resized without losing image quality. • Common bitmap-based formats are JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, PICT, and BMP.
