  2. Competency 008 The master technology teacher knows how to implement and assess technology-enhanced instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all students.

  3. Competency 008: EThe Master Technology Teacher: Demonstrates knowledge of assistive technology as defined by state and federal regulations.

  4. Assistive Technology Any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of a child with a disability.   5. Competency 008: FThe Master Technology Teacher: Recognizes that technology may be assistive, instructional or both, depending on a student’s instructional and developmental needs

  8. Competency 008: GThe Master Technology Teacher: Knows that decisions about AT for students are required by law to be made be the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee or Section 504 Committee as identified personnel who are responsible for AT decisions

  9. Essential Vocabulary Assistive Technology – any tool used to increase, maintain, or improve the capabilities of a child with disabilities ARD – Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee The purpose of an ARD could include an Annual ARD, a Review ARD, or an ARD to discuss a new evaluation. IEP – Individualized Education Program The IEP creates an opportunity for teachers, parents, administrators, related services personnel to work together to improve educational results for children with disabilities. IDEA – Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Section 504 – “No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States . . . shall, solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance . . . ."
