  2. The Master Technology Teacher knows how to implement and assess technology-enhanced instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all students. Competency 008

  3. The Master Technology Teacher demonstrates knowledge of assistive technology as defined by the state and federal regulations. Competency 008: E

  4. What is Assistive technology? The United States Department of Education defines Assistive Technology as any item, piece of equipment, or product system, modified or customized that is used to increase, maintain or improve the functional capabilities of a child with a disability.

  5. What is IDEA?IDEA is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, a federal law that assures students with disabilities receive free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.

  6. The Master Technology Teacher recognizes that technology may be assistive, instructional or both, depending on a student’s instructional and developmental needs. Competency 008: F

  7. What is Instructional Technology? In education, instructional technology is “the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning”

  9. Competency 008: G The Master Technology Teacher knows that decisions about Assistive Technology (AT) for students are required by law to be made by the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee or Section 504 Committee.

  11. Conclusion:The Master Technology Teacher makes decisions to provide students with an enhanced learning experience according to their IEP in order to meet their individual needs and abilities in the classroom.
