  2. My Background • Married • Mother of five children ages 10-23 • CSULB-BA Degree • CSULB-Multiple Subject Teaching Credential • Loyola Marymount University-Clear Credential • CSULB-Currently working on a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology (Winter 2009!)

  3. Classroom Rules • Follow directions the first time they are given. • Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak. • Stay in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise. • Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself. • Be positive towards yourself and others.

  4. Good Behavior Will earn privileges and will be rewarded by: • Immediate praise • Raffle Tickets for monthly raffle • Random surprise

  5. Discipline Behavior • Verbal warning • Name on board • Behavior demerit plus a 50 word essay • Three behavior demerits=one detention plus a 100 word essay • Parent conference • Check school handbook for procedures Work Habits • Four work habit demerits=one detention

  6. Check homework notebook daily. Missing homework will result in a demerit. Check to see that all homework is complete. As part of the learning process, please review mistakes with your child. Corrected papers will be sent home in a folder every Friday. Sign, date and return if requested. Long term assignments will be given four weeks in advance. Homework

  7. Assessment • All subjects on the report card will be awarded a letter grade A-F. • Any test that has a grade of C- or below, must be signed by the parent. • Deficiency notices will go home four weeks into the quarter. • Contact me if you have any concerns.

  8. Open Communication • Parental involvement is the key to your child’s success. • If you have any questions or concerns please contact me. • I am available before and after school by appt. • My goal is that every student succeeds.

  9. Field Trips & Special Dates • Feast of St. Bruno Mass-Oct. 6 @ 11:00 • Mass at the Cathedral-Oct. ___ • All Souls Mass & Remembrance of Fr. O’Dwyer • Wells Fargo Museum (either Nov. or May) • Class Retreat-January 12, 2010 • Mission San Juan Capistrano-Dec (tbd) Class Retreat-January 12, 2010 • Friday Mar. 26th-Welcome Matt (Stations of the Cross) • Spring Fling-June 4 (?)

  10. Projects • Monthly book reports will start in September please check the website. All book reports are due the last Friday of the month. There will not be a Dec. book report. A genre will be assigned (fantasy, fiction, historical fiction, nonfiction, etc.). Some months will be students own choice. • CA Indian Report-tribe will be determined by which mission is assigned. Assignment done in class and put into Powerpoint presentation. • Explorer Report • Island of the Blue Dolphins-read and report. • CA Missions-will be assigned by Thanksgiving and models or project will be due Jan. 15, 2010. Written report will be largely done in class and due date will be announced.
