  1. Welcome Back! and welcome to all of the new members inducted last year!

  2. Introduction and Reminders • Introduction of officers • We meet the first Tuesday of each month • If you cannot attend a meeting please contact Mr. Chamberlin prior to the meeting. • You can have only one unexcused absence from a meeting per year. • As for grades: make sure you keep them up; you have to maintain at least a 3.75 GPA overall.

  3. Introduction and Reminders • CHECK YOUR EMAIL! • Please check your school email every week, it’s how Mr. Chamberlin and teachers will contact you. • Important for scholarships and other useful information.

  4. Let’s Get Down to Business • First thing’s first- get your dues paid to the business office by September 9th. • Dues are $15. • If you have an issue with paying the dues, please contact Mr. Chamberlin ASAP.

  5. NHS Projects • For those of you that don’t know: • Two Community Service Projects are due at the end of each semester.

  6. NHS Projects • This year the requirements are as follows: • One project must take at least 4 hours to complete; the other project can be whatever service project you choose. • This year we are also adding the requirement that a picture must accompany each project.

  7. NHS Projects • The pictures can either be turned in as a hard copy or turned in electronically. • Electronically is preferred • Send to cofeess@hotmail.com • If you already did a project over the summer a picture is not required. • You must also get a supervisor signature (this cannot be a parent).

  8. What if I Need a Project? • On the NHS website, Mr. Chamberlin keeps an updated list of projects needing NHS volunteers. • We will also have occasional guest speakers that come and offer projects you can do.

  9. Guest Speakers • Mr. Poese – Writing Center • Mr. Lyall/Hartman- Math Tutoring Center • A good way to get your projects done as these count as two projects/semester.

  10. Finally Finances • We currently have $2,000 dollars. More to come when all dues are paid. • This money will be used for clubs that request money for service activities. • We will vote to give the money requested. • We will go into this more at the October meeting.
